I enjoy researching when selecting items to be used frequently. Below are some of the things I own that I have put some amount of thought into.

Packing

• Aer Slim Pack 2

  This is my daily commute bag. Small (~12L) and durable. Fits my work PC, charger(s), assorted small things, and a water bottle.

• GORUCK GR1 (26L)

  This is my main travel backpack. Tough and roomy, fits everything that I would typically bring and more. The bag itself is quite heavy, so there’s that.

• RAINS Pencil Case Mini

  Repurposed as toiletry bag. Perfect size for a minimal toiletry kit. Discontinued.

• IKEA RENSARE

  Packing cubes. I own many of these, and replace them as they wear out. I use these when packing any significant amount of clothes. Availability is a bit spotty.

Clothing

• UNIQLO DRY Colour Crew Neck T-Shirt (Black)

  My current favorite T-shirt. Inexpensive, comfortable, no neck tag. In practice I own several different black t-shirts at any given time. T-shirts wear out and get replaced as needed.

• Patagonia Men’s Torrentshell 3L Rain Jacket (Black)

  Daily rain jacket. Neutral look, relatively light, and packs into its own pocket.

Tech

Electronics are inherently shorter lived than other items on this page. However, my selection principles remain the same. I recently standardized everything on USB-C, and got a decent dual-output USB-C charger. This is the way.

• Apple iPhone 16 (128 GB)

  Smallest/lightest new iPhone available at the time of purchase.

• Apple AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation

  I love noise cancellation but hate rubber tips. These are a decent compromise.

• Anker 523 Charger

  Compact, USB-C, dual-output, and wattage enough for my devices.

• Apple 60W USB-C Charge Cable (1 m)

  Quality cable. One for each charger output.

• Apple AirTag

  Provides peace of mind. Tracking backpack, keys, and wallet.

Miscellaneous

• RE:01 COIN SLEEVE

  Current wallet. Small, yet with room for my ~5 cards + coins/AirTag.

• Hamilton Khaki Field King

  Daily watch for a number of years. Good quality, legible, and with day/date display. Currently worn on a black Delugs elastic loop strap.
